Here’s how JW Hinks has supported Let’s Feed Brum in 2023

As you probably already know, JW Hinks has spent the last two years partnered with Let’s Feed Brum, an incredible Birmingham-based charity that feeds the homeless and hands out vital resources like warm clothing and toiletries. As 2023 draws to a close, we want to take a few minutes to highlight some of the events that we have put on to raise funds for the charity this year:

29 March – JW Hinks Classic Afternoon Tea

Our team put their aprons on and rustled up homemade sandwiches, cakes, crisps, and drinks, to sell to the rest of the staff. We also held a raffle, which was won by Dan, Neal, and James Long.

26 April – Chocolate Egg Treasure Hunt

We hid chocolate eggs around the office and car park to celebrate Easter. In addition to having fun the team paid to enter and we managed to raise money for Let’s Feed Brum.

28th June – Charity Summer BBQ

By the time we got to June, we were all ready for a bit of fun in the sun, and that’s exactly what our charity summer BBQ provided. Staff members could purchase food and drink. We were blessed with good weather and a great afternoon was had by all.

27th September – Office Games

In September, we held our very first Office Games event! Participants came together in teams, and between playing games like Pong, Plane Jane, and Biggest Tosser (basket ball shooting game).

The winner from each game went on to compete in a final round where they had to answer a challenging question – the cumulative age of all Partners, which was a very big number. Thank goodness we are accountants.

2^nd December – Christmas Lunch

On Saturday 2^nd December, more-than 300 people attended a charity lunch at Birmingham Cathedral. They were served by volunteers (including JW Hinks staff members) and listened to a live musician. Despite the doors not opening until 1pm, many people had been queuing since 10am – a sign of how important the work Let’s Feed Brum does is to this community. There were 2 volunteers per table, who spent time chatting to the attendees and getting to know them, as well as serving food.

Hannah Owen said: “It was a truly wonderful experience. On a day when the temperature was in minus figures, it really made us all aware of the comforts we take for granted. Listening to the stories of the people who attended was heartbreaking, and it was a struggle to keep it together at times. There was also lots of fun and laughter, too. It was a truly humbling experience, and a realisation that the donations we give really make a difference.”

20th December – Christmas Fayre

As we come to the end of the year, we will close our 2023 charity events with a Christmas Fayre!

JW Hinks takes its contributions to Charity very seriously and at this time of year we especially think of those that need our support the most.
